Most Nigerian households throw food scraps in with everything else. It ends up in a dumpsite, where it rots, releases methane and earns nobody anything. At CEID Hub we treat the same scraps as the first input of a working business.
From scraps to feed
On our Black Soldier Fly farm, larvae eat through organic waste in days. What comes out is high-protein feed for fish and poultry, and frass, a rich organic fertiliser. Both have buyers.
From residue to energy
What the larvae can’t use goes to our biogas digester, alongside cow dung, and becomes clean cooking gas. The slurry left behind goes back to the garden and greenhouse.
Where the opportunity is
- Collection: sorted food waste from markets, restaurants and estates has value to BSF and biogas operators.
- Production: small BSF units can run from a backyard and supply local fish farmers.
